Meet the Sikorsky CH-53K King Stallion. It is a large heavy lift cargo helicopter that is currently developed by the United States Marine Corps. The Defense Acquisition Board gave them the green light to begin initial production.
Sikorsky Aircraft is building the helicopter with three 5590 kW engines and rotor blades. It is by far more efficient and reliable, as well as bigger than CH-53E. With this pace, this new giant helicopter will replace the currently used CH-35 by 2030. It already had its first flight in 2015 and is able to carry three times more load than the currently used helicopters by the US Marines.
With three external cargo hooks and 12’’ long cabin, this Sikorsky CH-53K is by far one of the most expensive helicopters in the world. HMH-366 in New River will be the first lucky owner of this helicopter in 2019. Leave your thoughts in the comment section below.
